Project: Safe House
Amar Dragoste is looking to purchase their own safe house. A Cup for a Cause is raising $40,000 for this project. This will allow for more stability for the residents and an environment tailored to the needs of women in need of healing. Amar Dragoste will also save enough money (by owning rather than renting) that within a year's time they could open the counseling clinic they've been hoping for.
We're on our way!
WHAT CAUGHT OUR ATTENTION
We met Amar Dragoste in 2015. They were a small team with big results. A year after we met them they had 11 women go through their safe house program, 10 of whom stayed out of “the life,” all done on a budget of less than 60,000 Euros. We had never seen numbers like this. We had to learn more.
MORE COOL STUFF
The director of Amar Dragoste, Carol Sanchez, created an online platform to train people that wanted to volunteer to do anti-trafficking work. It started in 2007 and by 2015 over 2,000 people had been trained. Amar Dragoste has trained volunteer teams in Barcelona, Córdoba, Malaga, Alicante, Valladolid, Valencia, and Vigo.
